The flooring is finally here! . . . . .

Not a whole lot going on right now.  We are working all the time on something and have a few major victories but it sure seems slow going.  And nothing really blog-worthy. I can't do anything very crafty since I have no workspace and most of my supplies are packed away.

Dear Hubby and Computer Geek went to pick up our new flooring this morning.

This is supposed to be 725 square feet.

It is tongue & groove white pine.  A very soft wood but we know that.  We expect dings and scratches along the way.  While our house isn't a farmhouse, it is farmhouse style.  This will fit perfect. We have narrowed the stain color down to Minwax Early American stain (on the left) and Minwax Golden Oak (on the right).

I know they are both close but one has a little more brown and one a little more yellow.  We are going to have to play with some more samples for a few more days.

So after letting the wood acclimate for a week, going out of town for a week or more, several days of putting the floor down, 2 days of staining, 7 to 10 days of sealer and sealer curing. . . . . well, we're looking at another 6 weeks before we can even think about putting things back where they belong.

I can't wait to see the final product and to show you!

Blessings, Cathi

They do both look close, but yet not. I know that my wood floors have darkened over the years so you might want to take that into consideration if you haven't already! Can't wait to see the floor.

Seeing color choice on a computer screen is always difficult. I'll have to come visit someday and see for myself. Hee!!

Baby steps... I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's finished. At least it's not during the IMPORTANT holiday:)

Well you will have times like that....we have had lots of them this past year. We start something and then WAIT....
I love the idea you are doing with the PINE....I wanted it in my kitchen and dining room but we would have had to do some major floor reno to get it so....didn't get it.
I will be waiting patiently to see yours...I like the light one on the right....because don't forget - it will mellow with age and get a tad darker - something to think about.

Thanks for visiting my blog today - Hugs, Karen

I can't wait to see the final product either! It is going to be lots of hard work, but very rewarding in the end. I think you picked a good wood for your farmhouse style. Both colors look good. Can't wait to see what you decided on. Try to have some fun mixed in with all that hard work. =]
