Check out these giveaways!.....

Although I shouldn't share these 'cause the chances of me winning goes down.....but I'm in a sharing mood!

The first is at
Magnolia Bay Quilts. She has just come out with a new book and a new blog. Boy, do you know what I could do with 2-1/2" strips?! I could cut those all day long! So even if I don't win, this will be on my list of must haves!

The other giveaway is at
Cornfield Quilter. Isn't this the most yummy stack of fat quarters? I know this is a little out of my box for fabric choices but sometimes a girl just has to have something fresh and fun!

And tell them both that Cathi sent ya!!

Edit: I fixed the link to Cornfield Quilter! Thanks, Linda

Happy April Rudy Day.....

Yesterday was Rudy Day and since it fell on a Saturday, I am taking the whole weekend to work on something for Christmas. For a better explanation of what Rudy Day is and what I did this weekend, jump on over to my Christmas blog. Here is a sneak peak at what I did.....

Speaking of Stitcheries.....

I thought I'd share a stitchery-quilt that I made several years ago. The stitcheries are a BOM from Buttermilk Basin....one of my favorite designers. These are called "Folk Art Baskets thru the Year" and are found on the "designs for everyday" tab.

I put them together in order with some great brushed cotton plaid and used the big stitch to quilt it. It needs some more quilting in the border but that's for another day. It lives in the living room on the wall above my couch but the picture was taken outside where the light was better.

Make sure you click on the picture to see a clearer view! The picture like this is kind of light.

I finished my stitchery.....

I don't know why it takes me so long to finish something but it does. I really wanted to finish this $2.00 Wal-mart frame (yes, I ventured into Wal-mart....aaaggghhh) with the Dark Brown Bri-wax that other prim blogs have been talking about....just to try it out. It took me two weeks and three Ace Hardwares to find it but I did.

Well, I love the way it turned out. I changed the date to our anniversary year and added our intials and some buttons. I had a little trouble with the Bri-wax the first go round so I had to sand, paint and re-wax the frame again. I think I'm going to like it once I get the hang of it!

In honor of prom season.....

I found this cartoon in the paper several years ago. With prom season right around the corner, I couldn't help but to share it with you! Click on the picture to enlarge if your eyes are as old as mine!

Question for all you stitchers.....

I am about finished with a stitchery that I am going to frame. Usually I make it into a wallhanging or leave it in the "finished top" box until I decide what to do with it.

But those that frame, do you leave the glass in or take it out? I don't like the shine that the glass can put on it sometimes but it does protect it from dust and things. And I have a LOT of dust in my house.

This is the one I am working on. It's a freebie from
Primitive Betty but I changed the date to "1979" (our anniversary year).

Look at the great new blog I found.....

Robby over at Glory River Primitives has started a new blog called Cash Strapped Crafting that has dozens (soon to be hundreds) of links to free patterns and tutorials. So if you are looking for a project that you can do on the cheap, hop on over there and check it out. You won't be dissappointed!

She is also providing the blog for those who would like to trade or barter. Check out the
very first post she wrote for more information.

And because I can't have a post without a picture.....

Here is part of a quilt that I made for Dear Son #1 for high school graduation. I love it so much that it is on my bed at night. He's okay with it since he has his very first quilt I made for him on his bed.

How did that get there?.....

Dear Hubby and I worked in the garden today since we had picture perfect weather. Remember the blueberry bushes we moved a month ago? We topdressed the plants with some compost that we "cooked" over the winter. Apparently it didn't cook enough because this weekend we found 14 pumpkin plants growing in between the blueberries! We're pretty sure they are pumpkins 'cause there were a few with the seed still attached to the end of the leaf.

Yup, we had thrown the pumpkins in the compost with all the leaves and grass clippings.

We decided to leave them and see what happens....will keep you posted.
