Finally ..A little rest.....

I am finally able to spend a little time on the computer. We have been remodeling our bedroom since the first of January. What a chore! We have remodeled it before, sort of. Well at least painted it. But we never seemed to finish. This time were determined. We have been in this houe for 24 years and it was about time! Here are some after pictures. I don't dare show you the before. It's not very primitive but I still have all the decorations to go so I may prim it up a little with that.

The bedding and actually the whole room reminds me of Charleston. The headboard is some bi-fold doors that we bought at the sidewalk sale at Lowes. I plan on hanging a boxwood wreath in the middle of it. In this picture you can see that we added crown molding and beadboard for the ceiling (to cover the ugly popcorn ceiling.

This is my little corner. A perfect place to do my handwork while watching tv. I still have some pillows to make for my chair and the bed. And the carpet is new. We had gold shag that was there when we moved in. Wasn't it time for some new??!!

This is a wallhanging that Dear Hubby bought for me years ago that was rolled up and stored in the back of our closet waiting for me to decide where it belonged. When I unrolled it, well the colors couldn't have been more perfect. I didn't even plan this. It's 100% wool. I will take more close ups of this one later. Does anyone have a clue about it? We were given no information.

This is the last picture for today to show you why I haven't done any quilting. I made the curtains. I never realized how hard it is to make lined curtains using the coffee table to measure. The dining room table was covered with the "sewing room" so I couldn't use that. This is also a better shot of the crown molding and the ceiling and the nice valance boxes that Dear Hubby made.

Now that all of this is finished, I can get back to the quilting and the blogging. And I now have a sanctuary to go to. I've waited a LLOONNGG time for this.

A Sweetheart of a Pillow.....

Just a quick photo of the wool pillow I made for Dear Hubby and I. It didn't even dawn on me to show it for Valentine's Day. As you can see by the date, we are celebrating a milestone anniversary this year!

The pattern is from the Need'l Love booklet, "Special Delivery".

Finished another.....

Here is month #2 of Gail Pan's "A Christmas Wish" stitchery. I really hate waiting for the next step but I'm also glad she isn't rushing us.....it's giving me a fighting chance!

Congratulations, Bearcats !!.....

I hope everyone had a romantic Valentine's Day. Mine was a little less conventional. Rock Hill High School (where all 4 Dear Kids graduated from and Dear Hubby has worked for 24 years) went back to the state wrestling championship yesterday and won!

Dear Hubby is on the far right in the red shirt. He is the athletic trainer and also teaches science.

Since it was in Columbia, the state capital 65 miles from home, we decided to get a hotel room and spend the night. It was a nice little diversion. At least I spent it with my sweetheart!

My crazy spoiled PIA cat that's not really mine.....

Thought I'd show you a picture of Tinker. She is the last of 6 pets we used to have.....two dogs, two cats and two rabbits. We have held off getting any new pets to replace the ones that have left us. I know it sounds selfish but the house is much cleaner than when we had so many pets and I kind of like it. At least for now.

She originally belonged to Dear Daughter #2's high school boyfriend. His mother decided she didn't want another kitten until it was house broken and cute and perfect and older so he brought it to our house. Well, we decided she couldn't have it both ways so 10 years later, Tink is still with us.

Sunday morning I came downstairs to find the plant that she is sitting under in the picture, all over the floor. Should have taken a picture but was more worried about saving the plant (which I did) than grabbing the camera.

Progress.....

I have been busy this past week at the paying job and I am 48 hours past a newsletter deadline for the state guild newsletter. I shouldn't even be on the computer other than to send Carol her article but I'll sneak this one in anyway.

I am only one step behind Helen in the Summer Mystery Quilt. The next step is the gold fabric in the first border. I'm hoping that the next border is wide and uses the focus fabric. Not that I have ever been one to follow the rules but Helen designed it and I'm going to make it. I can deviate from the path on the next one. LOL

Worth another mention.....

Back in the beginning of December, I mentioned about a contest the Quilters of South Carolina (the state quilt guild of which I am a board member) had. Our president challenged us with "adorning" a bra with whatever moved us. The only rules were that the bra had to be a size 34C and the entire bra had to be covered. I didn't get around to making one myself but here is a picture of one my friend made (without her permission but I don't think or hope she would mind....if she does, she'll let me know!)

We have had such a wonderful response. Our president, Sandra has heard from people from literally all over the world. There are 49 bras in all on the website. At the moment, they are being shown all over the state at different guild meetings, in hospitals and just about every other venue. I really hope you have the chance to go to the website and check them out. We have some really creative people in our state and I want to show them off!

Here is the link to the Artfull Bras Project. Enjoy!
