John and Abigail Adams.....

.....what a true love story. All the correspondence between John and Abigail can be found at this website.

"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

excerpt from letter from John Adams to Abigail Adams, 3 July 1776

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July.

Blessings, Cathi

Interesting comment - It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. I think our country has strayed from that. Thank you for sharing this post; it is a good one.

When I was making the CW blocks I almost liked reading the letters more than making the blocks! The stories were so neat!
