What Goodwill did to me.....

Goodwill, the store, that is. I don't go to ours often because they have almost all clothing but once in a while they have something worth picking up. Case in point are these cute little......um...wall pockets? Not really sure what they are but thought they were kind of neat. Especially for 99 cents each. I will definitely take off the pink 'glass' beads and replace with rusted jingle bells. Maybe I'll save them for some sort of Christmas decoration.

Anyway, back to the post title. As I was paying for my large purchase, the clerk asked me if I would like to use my senior citizen discout. I said so shocked I almost couldn't get the words out of my mouth, "Excuse me?". Again she said those dreaded words. I asked her at exactly what age did Goodwill stores consider someone to be a senior citizen. She said 55. Now if you recall back in January, I posted about me being
over the hill at 50! Now some of you are probably snickering welcome to the club or thinking what is the big deal. Well because it's a first for me, that's why. And I've always been told that I looked younger than my years. I was the only one in a group of 20-somethings that was carded at a bachelorette party and I was 30 with 4 kids for crimeny sakes.

I called Dear Hubby. He was very sympathetic in between fits of laughter. Well, haven't been back to Goodwill since and if I do go, I'll make sure I don't get that clerk. In hind sight, I should have just said yes, I would like to use my discount and saved a whopping 20 cents but I didn't. Maybe next time. sigh

Blessings, Cathi

The nerve! It's like asking somebody when they are expecting; and they aren't!

Oh that's funny! Try to think of it as conditioning for the day that you actually turn 55. Maybe then it won't be as tramatic! Right after I turned 50, I somehow got on the mailing list for a retirement home. I was so insulted! My kids made so much fun of me but then I started looking at the brochures and really, it's like luxery living! People would come into my living quarters to clean and bring me food. There was a swimming pool and activity center and wonderful gourmet food in the dining area ... I threatened to go to the open house and sign myself up...it still didn't shut them up with the teasing though...but I have to admit, when my times comes, I'll happily move into that home!

Oh dear - I know that day is coming for me, as well. I am not going to be a happy camper - that's for sure. Guess I should step away from the computer and go apply some moisturizer *s*

Well, I can beat that. My husband and I were in a landscaping company buying mulch when the owner said to me, "Isn't it nice that your son came along to help you?" My husband nearly fell off the steps laughing so hard!!

First off, I really like those wall pockets!

I think I might have just said "Oh. I get a discount? Thanks" and took it! I hate it when people think my sister is my daughter. She thinks it's hilarious.

Oh Cathi, that's too funny!

I love the wallpockets or tussies.
Whatever you want to call them they were a great find.
