And this time it is me.
I was laid off this morning after working at my office as a CAD designer in a civil engineering firm for 23 years. I had no clue or warning (other than the obvious economy woes). I had been out of town since last Wednesday for Thanksgiving. What a welcome back to work.......
So if I don't post for a few days/weeks, I hope you understand. I need to regroup, have a little pity party and figure out what to do after I pick myself up with my bootstraps (engineering is out of the question).
On the plus side, I can get all the Christmas decorations up in a reasonable amount of time. And all the quilting time I just gained!!
And I wasn't the only one.....I was among 4 more. The office is down to 13 out of 27 since last October.
I'll be okay....... but your prayers sure could help.
Blessings, Cathi

Oh Cathi, I am so sorry!!! I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Remember, when God closes one door another will open. Keep the faith!!! Big hugs!!!
So sorry to hear! How upsetting! 23 years is a long time of good service to your firm. Hope things pick up in this economy!
I'm saying a prayer for you.
So sorry for you, I'll be thinking of you.
I am so sorry. This economy is making it so hard.
My husband's company has been hiring CAD designers. Any wish to move to Maine?
Cathi sooo sorry. Will keep you and your family in my prayers. We are facing the same thing at my job but they at least gave me 6 months to try and pick up sales. Keep the faith hun. It'll work out.May not seem like it right this moment but it will.Like Kathy said above God doesn't close the door without opening another.

CRAPOLA!!! What a way to return to work after a holiday!! I read and heart dropped. This is a sign of something BETTER down the road for you...though it doesn't show at moment it soon will. It certainly looks like you will have many Rudy Days....enjoy your quilting and chin up (best it can I imagine). Sending out extra prayers your way!!
Oh, Cathi I was so sorry to hear of your job loss! And after such a long time...the same thing happened to my brother after 29 years. Bah Humbug! Hang in there, the economy is turning and they will be hiring again. In the meantime fire up the sewing machine and put on some Christmas music. I will be thinking of you!

I am so sorry about your news. Hang in there and hopefully you'll find something bigger and better out there.
Well dang it, Cathi! I'm so sorry to hear this news! Chin up and consider yourself ((HUGGED))
I was laid off last January. Other than the obvious cut in our household income, this has been one of the best years of my life! Things will get better and keep the faith! Get up every day and be positive!
I'm so sorry this happened to you. This happening right during the holiday season makes it even more difficult, I'm sure. I will pray that this is only temporary. 23 years? Sheesh, that's sad for you and for that company that will have to cope without you.
Cathy
Oh, I am so sorry. That's an incredibly long time to work for one company--and then be laid off. Hoping your next opportunity comes along quickly!
This makes me sad to hear that something so life-changing can still happen at the drop of a hat. Please continue to love your life. Good luck with whatever plan you undertake for the next step.
What a way to come back from a holiday. Ya think someone could have done this with a little more sensitivity?? Jeeesh. I feel for you -- the economy is going nowhere fast and it's physically and mentally exhausting. I do hope that Unemployment holds you over for a while and that you get a chance to chill and have time to enjoy the meaning of the holiday -- hope, and better things for the future. Thinking of you!
Oh, my goodness I can't even imagine what that must feel like. I will definitely say a pray for you. I don't think that there is a family that isn't affected by layoffs. Our oldest son got laid off a few weeks ago. Now him and his wife are moving to Asheville.
Hmm, you were talking about a wool business? Could this be God's timing? Hugs!
I'm so sorry to hear this news - I wish I knew words to help make it better. Try to remember that there is something out there . . . . who know you could go on the adventure of your life such as Hubby and I have done. You just never know. I'll be keeping good thoughts *s*
Hey girl, sorry to hear the sad news. All of the As The Needle Turn girls are thinking / praying for you. Keep in touch! Love Carol
BUMMER!!!! I know you enjoy the work so hopefully something will turn up in the next few months that will be equally good for you. Maybe its time to get that business endeavor you have always wanted to do going??? You know you will be in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you can enjoy the time off over the holidays and be revived to start looking after the first of the year.
Cathi,
I'm so sorry! We teach CAD in the Design Dept. at Winthrop... let me know if you are interested in teaching and I can see if they need someone... but it would only be part-time. Thinking of you! -Jamilyn
SO sorry, Cathi! My DH works in that same industry as a SALESMAN!!!! It is a very scary business right now.....Saying prayers for you!
I am sorry, but I could follow, but not add a comment on your Carolina Bloggers... DH wants to know where you worked...y'all may have crossed paths!
Sorry to hear about your job :(
The same happened to me and my husband. We both worked at the same factory for 17 years and the place closed and moved to Mexico. We are now both out of work in our 50's and who wants to hire people in their 50's
I feel for you, this happened to me a few years ago and the memories are still strong. It was devastating for me, I've still not recovered but I have realized friends are more important than a work place.
Take care and know you'll be stronger to move on to the next adventures in life.
Have a wonderful holiday with your family.
